For whom suffering and struggle and pain are real and joy a mirage

For people who don’t have all the answers

Who have found that their grip on life is tenuous and, at times, has slipped

Who have little faith in easy answers no matter how sincere

To whom it is easier, and more important, to be honest than it is to be tactful, polite

For whom the ambiguities of life outweigh its consistencies

For whom death is more a friend than life

And the faintest ray of light
an overflow of God’s blessing.
